Ted Karras' New Foundation Changes Lives with Two Community-Focused Scholarships

Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras turned a simple gesture—a hat gifted to teammates—into a powerful movement for good with the creation of The Cincy Hat Foundation. What began as a fun team item quickly gained popularity, evolving into a full-fledged brand and charitable initiative. Seeing an opportunity to give back, Karras began selling the hats and directing the proceeds toward meaningful causes in the Cincinnati community.

One of the foundation’s first major impacts was awarding two full-ride scholarships to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the University of Cincinnati's TAP (Transition and Access Pathways) program. Recipients Mariah Eaves and Jessica Neal now have the opportunity to pursue higher education in an inclusive and supportive environment. The initiative reflects Karras’ belief in creating opportunity, promoting dignity, and changing the dream for students of all abilities.
